How do you pick a listing to match an MDI?
Choose which body system & choose which listing matches best. Look at the criteria.
What defines a Severe MDI?
More than minimal limitations to do basic work activities/ADL. (ESLD, Down’s Syndrome)
What defines a non-severe MDI?
No more than minimal limitations to do basic work activities/ADL. (upper respiratory infection, ingrown toenail)
What is a Sign?
One or more anatomical, physiological, or psychological abnormalities that can be observed apart from claimant’s statements.
(range of motion, gate, chest exam)
What is a Symptom?
Claimant’s own description of their physical or mental impairment(s).
(pain, fatigue, weakness, nervousness)
What is a Lab Finding?
Evidence that can be shown by use of medically acceptable laboratory diagnostic techniques. (Bloodwork, pulmonary functions test, MRI)
