- establish EDD

ABO-rh CBC ab screen rubella IgG syphilis testing hepatitis B sAg HIV varicella IgG
besides drawing blood what other things do you need to culture or test for?
urine culture
cervical cytology (if indicated)
chlamydia testing
when do you need to test a pregnant woman for a thyroid condition?
symptomatic
personal hx of thyroid dz
family hx of thyroid dz
when do you need to test a woman for diabetes?
for at risk women do at first visit (FPG > 126 mg/dL), Hgb A1C >6.5% or random blood glucose >200 mg/dL w/f/u)
for all else test at 24-28 wks
what are some infections you need to test a mom for only if she is symptomatic?
GC tuberculosis toxoplasmosis HVC bacterial vaginosis trich HSV
when is a first trimester screen done, what does it include and what does it screen for?
done by 13 wks, 6 days gestation
includes U/S and blood work
screens for trisomy 18 and 21
what does a second trimester screen include and what can it screen for?
blood work
screens for trisomy 21 and NTDs
what should a pregnant mom increase her caloric intake by in the 2nd trimester? in the third? how much protein should she be getting? how many carbs?
second: 340 calorie increase
third: 452 calorie increase

what things should pregnant moms avoid consuming?
raw meat, fish or poultry avoid unpasteurized dairy products and fruit/vegetable juices rinse fresh fruits and veggies avoid raw sprouts heat deli meats

iron 30 mg/d folic acid 800 mcg/d calcium 1000 mg/d vitamin D 400 IU/d NO MORE THAN 10,000 IU of vitamin A/d
