What are the three basic listening modes?
A
- Competitive - were you are more interested in your own point of view
- Attentive listening: genuinely interested in hearing the patient’s point of view.
- Active listening - paying attention, being seen to be listening and being reflective

- Reflecting feelings
- Reflecting meaning
- Give feedback
- recognise feed- forward: providing future options or solutions
- listen more than you talk
- try to understand the feeling not just the facts
