Week 2 Flashcards
Describe the light-dependent photosynthesis
Thylakoid membrane of chloroplast
non-cyclic phosphorylation - (Photosystem II) photos sunlight excites the e and bust them to a higher energy level –> travels down ETC –> produce ATP
photosystem I- photos sunlight excites the e and bust them to a higher energy level –> form NADPH
cyclic phosphorylation- occurs in the stroma lamella and its main purpose is to continue producing ATP by using photosystem I
Describe photosynthesis, chlorophyll
6CO2 + 6 H2O –> glucose + 6 O2
occurs in the chloroplast of bacteria, plants
chlorophyll captures sunlight to convert into glucose and water
- a type of porphyrin that contain Mg in the center
stroma- cytoplasm
- where the Calvin cycle takes place
what is the main product of the light reaction of photosynthesis
ATP, NADPH & O2
