Clear on how research was based on, data was obtained
Independence definition
Impartial, not influenced by non-scientific considerations
Responsibility definition
Does not operate in isolation. Conduct research scientifically and societally relevant
Induction definition
Using the data to generate new hypotheses or theories
Deduction
Making predictions & hypotheses from a theory
Data Pseu-Donymisation
Alternative method where you replace identifiable information of participants with fake identifiers.
Anonymity
Each participant is given a random 3-digit number. Research data can only be linked to personally identifying data via participants. Identities of participants are not known.
Confidentiality
Only other researchers directly involved in the study are allowed to access the study data
Types of Potential Harm
Psychological
Social
Physical
Legal
Psychological harm
Sensitive questions or tasks that may trigger negative emotions such as shame or anxiety
Social harm
Participation can involve social risks, public embarrassment or stigma
Physical harm
Pain or injury can result from the study procedures
