Week 2 Flashcards
Data Cube
A data cube organizes data in a three-dimensional array to analyze it across different dimensions like time, product, and region.
Slicing and Presenting Data
Elementary: The most detailed data point, indivisible. Example: one transaction.
Intermediate: Data between the most detailed and summarized. Example: monthly sales for a category.
Overall: The highest level of data summarization. Example: annual sales across all categories.
Rule of Thirds
A composition principle in photography and design, the Rule of Thirds divides an image into nine equal parts with two equally spaced horizontal lines and two equally spaced vertical lines. Key elements should be placed along these lines or at their intersections, creating more tension, energy, and interest than simply centering the subject would.
Golden Ratio
A mathematical ratio of 1:1.618, known as Phi, found in nature and classical art. In design, the Golden Ratio can be applied to layout, shapes, and spaces. It’s visually pleasing and often used to determine aesthetically appealing proportions, creating harmony and balance within a design.
