What are the steps to taking blood from a CVL?

A

1.Swab the port
2.aspirate the heparin out and discard
3.take blood work with vaccutaner and blood vials
4.*CLAMP EVERYTIME I switch something from the port
5.Flush with 2x 10cc NS
6. instill Heparin
7. Re-start infusion
