Are Audio Files Stored Directly in the Pro Tools Session?

A

No, the audio files are not saved within the actual PTX. document. My audio files are saved in a totally separate audio files folder

When adding audio files to the session from its original location when adding audio to my session in that way it will NOT become a part of my audio files folder? How to fix this?

The method to ensure that all of my audio files will be in one place contained within my session is using
!!!”Save Copy In”!!! and check the audio files folder within Pro Tools to ensure the audio is there

then clean up clips list and proceed to save copy in

After Saving why should I clean up the clips list?

A

To remove the unwanted clips, to make our file size smaller. This saves me the harddrive space or if I am sending the session the file size will be smaller and it will send a lot faster.

How to clean up clips?

A
  • Go over to the clips list drop-down menu
  • Choose Select, Click Unused
    All the unused audio files in my session will be highlighted

-Then go back to my drop-down menu and choose “Clear” Two options Delete or Remove

  • Remove will just be removed from the clips list but will still be saved within the audio files folder (Choose this if I need the audio files to be referenced later)
  • Delete If I don’t need those files at all Option delete to bypass the second ask for each audio file selected

A

File –> Save copy In —> !!! Always Select Audio Files!!! Check Box —> Save in Desktop
