Week 1 Introduction to the Anatomy of Limbs Flashcards
What are the primary abductors at the glenohumeral joint?
- supraspinatus
2. deltoid-particularly middle part
What are the primary rotators at the glenohumeral joint?
Lateral: infraspinatus, teres minor, posterior part of deltoids
Medial: pectoralis major, latissimus dorsi, teres major, and subscapularis
What are the major flexors of the glenohumeral joint?
- coracobrachialis
- anterior deltoid
- short head of biceps
- upper part of pectoralis major
What are the extensors of the glenohumeral joint?
- teres major
- latissimus dorsi
- long head of the triceps
- posterior deltoid
What are the abductors of the hip joint?
Gluteus medius, gluteus minimus, and tensor fasciae latae
What are the lateral rotators of the hip joint?
Piriformis, obturator internus, obturator externus, quadratus femoris
What are the flexors at the hip joint?
Iliopsoas, satorius, rectus femoris, several muscles of adductor compartment
What are fibrous joints?
Articulating surfaces are firmly connected by dense connective tissue. Allows for little movement
What are synovial joints?
allow greatest degree of movement. They have: joint cavity, hyaline cartilage on bony surface, and joint capsule, synovial lining membrane, synovial fluid
