What is the origin of the inferior oblique
The origin is at the front of the orbit – it starts from a shallow depression in the anterior floor of the orbit
What is the course of the inferior oblique
This muscle does not arise at the back of the orbit
The inferior oblique arises at front of eye in a shallow depression on the anterior floor of the orbit
it then passes under the eye at an angle of 50° underneath the inferior rectus (like a bra shape)
Where does this muscle insert
This muscle insert on the far side of the eye behind the centre of rotation
It is on the temporal side
Which nerve supply is the inferior a bleak
The inferior division of the third cranial nerve i.e. oculomotor nerve
What are the primary and secondary actions of the inferior oblique
The primary action is elevation
The secondary action is abduction and extortion- it is increased
