What is the NDM?
THE NATIONAL DECISION MAKING MODEL.
The NDM is a primary decision making model for police in England and Wales.
Used by Individuals, Supervisors and others to assess potential decisions or decisions that have already been made
Why is the NDM promoted and by who?
Promoted by the Code of Ethics to help embed ethical reasoning in accordance with policing principles and the standards of behaviour
Implemented to allow people to be more ‘questioning of the situations confronting them, more challenging of themselves and better able to make ethical and effective decisions’.
