WEEK 1: Chapter 4 Key Points The Interview Flashcards
Health Assessment Interview
The interview, which is the first and most important part of data collection, is a compilation of the subjective data. The interview helps develop a successful relationship between the healthcare provider and the patient.
A successful interview must complete the following tasks:
-Gather complete and accurate data
-Establish trust and rapport with the patient
-Share information about the patient’s health status with the patient.
-Build rapport for maintaining a therapeutic relationship
-Look for opportunities to engage in patient teaching
internal and external factors can affect communication.
-Internal factors are what you bring to the interview. Three internal factors promote good communication: positive regard, expressing empathy, and active listening.
-External factors relate mainly to the physical setting. You can foster good communication with certain external factors, such as by ensuring privacy, preventing interruptions, creating a conducive environment, and documenting responses without interfering with the conversation.
