A
- Organization of all the parts into a unified whole
- all parts must reconcile so they support each other
- arranging of separate elements in an artistic work to create an overall aesthetic impression

to make 2 or more conflicting things consistent or compatible; to return to a friendly relationship

Qualities of Unity
A
- all elements are in agreement
- elements are made to look like they belong together
- the whole design is more important than any subgroup or individual part
- elements have visual similarity or conceptual similarity
- Too much similitude can result in a unified but dull design
- Without unity, a design becomes chaotic and unreadable
- without variety, a design becomes dull
- BALANCE between unity and variety is crucial
