What is the role of the GDC?
The General Dental Council’s role is to protect patients and maintain public confidence in the dental profession/services and its regulation
Indemnity
Indemnity is liability insurance, so that patients can claim any compensation to which they may be entitled.
Who sets standards
One of the GDC’s main responsibilities) is setting standards for dental practice that all dental professionals must adhere to.

What is CPD
The law defines CPD as an activity which contributes to the dentist or DCPs professional development and is directly relevant to the individuals practice/intended practice.
What do dental tech got to do with CPD
•Dental Technicians must undertake a minimum of 50 hours of ‘verifiable‘ CPD in every five year cycle.
•You must keep a detailed record of all CPD you have completed along with evidence, for at least 5 years, which you may be required to present to the GDC during audits.
