- How long could they last alone with plenty of access to food, water & entertainment
- 1 lasted 2 hours, 3 lasted two days and 1 eight days
- Some people were affected by psychological distress

A

- Will two random people know each other
- Sent letter to people without address and add their name to the roster
- Average number of people the letter passed through the target person was 6

Schacter’s Isolation Study
A
- There were differences in participants; one for 2 hrs and one for 8 days
- Some had mental health trouble but not the longest
- This indicates differences in individuals not the environment that has impact

- Individual dispositions can moderate environment
- Environment and individual differences influence behaviour
- Responses depend on personality
e.g. Some people are more predjudiced than others: contact with minority group influences political beleifs and vice versa
