Define periodisation
- A method of organising or structuring a training program to achieve peak performance at the right time
- A method of organising training around available opportunities and times for personal health and fitness
Is periodisation a new concept?
No, but research on it is not abundant

What would count as interference in training?
Training more than one component in the same cycle (e.g. aerobic and strength)
What order should the certain fitness attributes be trained in?
hypertrophy -> strength -> power -> endurance

A training cycle with a definite focus generally lasting 10-20 weeks
Explain the mesocycle…
A training cycle of 2-5 weeks in which the volume and/or intensity will usually increase and conclude with a week of “unloading”
Explain the microcycle…
A training cycle of usually one week duration terminating with a day of recovery/rest day
