Managing air-fuel ratio controls
Minimizes the production of PM emissions or black smoke during acceleration.
What is “Droop” ?
The change or difference in engine speed caused by a change in load.
Definition of “Hunting” ?
A rhythmic change in engine rpm at idle speed caused by uneven feeling of cylinders.
What are Mechanical Governors ?
Regulates the quantity of fuel I injected by the high pressure injection pump using fly weights and spring
Governor Spring Force
A throttle lever connected to the governor adds or removes tension.
What is “Torque Control” ?
Regulation fuel that enters the cylinders to produce an appropriate amount of torque for engine speed.
What is “Effective Stroke” ?
The distance the plunger moves between port opening and port closure.
What are “Timing Pins” ?
Locks injection pump or engine in position to obtain correct pump to engine timing.
What is “Sleeve Metering” ?
Sliding control sleeve.
Sleeve position determines when injection period ends by spilling fuel from the plunger.
Reference Voltage (Vref)
Precise voltage supplied to ECM sensors.
Typically 5 volts.
Piezoresistive Sensors
Measures vibration and dynamic or continuous pressure changes.
Variable Reluctance Sensors
Measures rotational speed; wheels, Vehicle speed, engine speed, camshaft and crankshaft speed.
Hall Effect Sensors
Measures the rotational speed of a shaft.
Produces digital signal square waveform.
strong signal at low shaft rotational speed.
Control Sleeve Position Sensor
Sensor used in electronic governors.
Provides close loop feedback about control sleeve position.
