What was at the centre of Weber’s hierarchy of class?
Power - split into three stages of economic (economic order), status (social order) and political (political order) power.
How are economic (economic order) and status (social order) categorised? How is political (political order) categorised?
Class and Status is Coercion

According to Weber, class can be split into 3 stages of economic order, with the last being fueld by status and political power too - what are they?
Property class - People who receive income from different assets.
Commercial class - People who have control over goods and skills (entrepreneurs)
Social class - Privileged by property
- Property-less intellegentsia
- Petty Bourgeoise
- Working class
The social class hierarchy is determined by how much economic, social and political power they hold.
According to Weber, it is believed that you can share the same status but not the same class, give an example
Both doctors may have high social class, however, if one doctor owns property and the other doesn’t then one will be a higher class
