What is weathering
A
the breaking down of rocks at or near the earths surface

what is chemical weathering
A
the mineral composition or chemical makeup of the rock changes
-will have a new substance

what is mechanical(physical) weathering
A
rocks are broken into different sizes and shapes
DOES NOT CHANGE the actual makeup of the rock

A
it can dissolve most minerals that hold rocks together
-(this is how caves are formed)
-weaker/softer minerals break down or dissolve
-this is how sinkholes form
