The process in which gas becomes a liquid.
Evaporation
When a substance turns from liquid to gas.
Precipitation
Water in a solid or liquid form.
Runoff
The draining away of water from the surface area of land.
Rain
Moisture condensed from the atmosphere
Sleet
Occurs when snowflakes partially melt.
Snow
Precipitation in the form of small white crystals.
Hail
Pellets of frozen rain.
Polar - maritime air mass
A cold and moist air mass.
Tropical – Maritime Air mass
A warm and moist air mass.
Polar – Continental Air mass
A cold dry air mass.
Tropical – Continental Air mass
A hot dry air mass.
Cold front
A boundary where a cold air mass displaces a warmer air mass.
Warm Front
The leading edge of a warm air mass that moves over and replaces a cooler air mass.
Thunderstorm
A rain bearing cloud that also produces lightning.
Lightning
A giant spark of electricity.
Thunder
The loud boom in the air when lightning strikes
Tornado
A violent thunderstorm cloud that goes to the ground.
Hurricane
A powerful rotating storm system.
