Weather quiz study notes Flashcards
Cold air mass slides under and pushes warm air mass up ( brings strong winds, severe storms, drop in temp)
Cold front
Fast warm air mass replaces a cold air mass ( brings light rain/snow for a few days, rise in temp & humidity) after it passes there will be warm and humid air
Warm front
Cold and warm air mass meet, but neither can mov. The front stays for a while( partly cloudy, long periods of rain) the weather after it passes depends on which mass comes to move the front.
Stationary front
A warm air mass gets caught between two cold air masses and pushed up (continuous precipitation, temp drops because warm air is pushed out.) after it passes there will be cooler air with less precipitations
Occluded front
