Jet stream
A band of very fast moving wind caused by differences in temperature

A spot near the equator where there are very few winds
Coriolis effect
The rotation of the Earth causes objects in the Northern Hemisphere to deflect to the right while objects in the Southern Hemisphere are deflected to the left

Winds that blow away from the equator

El Niño
A band of warm ocean temperatures that developed off the coast of South America
La Niña
A band of cold ocean temperatures that develop off the coast of South America
Gulf Stream
Found along the east coast of US
Convection currents
Gasses or liquids rise and fall in a circular path
Sea Breeze
The wind starts over the land and moves to the sea

Land Breeze
The wind starts over the sea and moves to the land
