What does climate mean?
The average weather over a period of time eg 10 years. Taken from temperature readings and rain-fall over a 12 month period.
What is the study of weather called?
It’s Called meteorology
Where do we get the weather forcast from?
We get our weather forcast from the met.office who give the information to newspapers, TV stations etc
How can you measure rain fall?
With a rain gouge
How do you measure wind speed?
With an anemometer
How do you measure wind direction?
With a weather vane
How do measure sir temperature?
With a thermometer
What’s a visibility meter?
It’s a instrument that sends out a beam of light then a sensor detects how much light gets through the sensor. If lots of light gets through its high visibility and if a little bit of light gets through its low visibility.
What’s a thermometer?
It measures how hot it is (tells you how many degrees it is).
Whats an anemometer?
It tells you how fast the winds blowing?
What’s a barometer?
It tells you what the weathers like. If it rises it means dry sunny weather if it falls it means really bad weather. It works by measuring if air pressure is rising or falling.
What’s a weather vane?
It tells you which way the winds blowing from.
What’s a rain gauge?
It measures how much it’s been raining over a specific amount if time.
What does temperature mean, what’s it usually measured in and what’s if measure using?
It means how how of cold it is, it’s usually given in degrees and you use a thermometer
What does air pressure mean, what’s it usually measure in and what is it measure using?
It means how heavy the air is it’s measured in milli bars and it’s measured using a barometer
