19
Q

What does continental mean

20
Q

Where do we live in the British isles

21
Q

What is weather

A

Day to day conditions in the atmosphere, cloud cover and wind direction

22
Q

What is climate

A

Average weather experienced in a period of time.

23
Q

What is NI’s climate like

A

Cool summers, warm winters and rain all year

24
Q

Is our weather changeable

25
What is a climate graph
It is used to show our average temperature and rainfall over a year
26
What is a thermometer
Tube of hollow glass filled with mercury.
27
How do you measure the wind
Can be measured by speed and direction from where it came from
28
What is wind speed
We use an anemometer to measure wind speed we can also look at smoke. As the wind blows it catches the cup and spins it around. Measured in knots
29
What is wind direction
The direction the wind is going in. Can be measured using a vane or a piece of ribbon. If wind is travelling from the south it is travelling northwards but it is called southerly wind.
30
What are different about clouds
Come in different shapes, sizes and heights
31
What is cloud cover
Amount of the sky covered bye clouds
32
What is air pressure
Pressure of air measured using a barometer
33
What is a high level cloud
Thin and white, ice crystals ,fair weather
34
What is medium level clouds
White fluffy cotton balls
35
What is low level clouds
Blankety bringing grey and dull weather. Strato-form eg,stratus
36
Where do rain gauges need to be kept away from
Buildings trees as they intercept rainfall
