What is the difference between weather and climate?
Weather is the combination of temperature, precipitation, cloud cover, winds, and is short term, usually 1 day. Climate is weather conditions of a place averaged over usually 30 years
What does the “L” stand for in the term LOWERN?
The “L” Stands for Latitude, the long lines running horizontally across the world.
What does the “O” stand for in the term LOWERN?
The “O” stands for Ocean Currents, where the ocean has several different ocean currents, some warm, some cold that go around the world.
What does the “W” stand for in the term LOWERN?
The “W” stands for Winds and Air Masses, which take on moisture and temperature.
What does the “E” stand for in the term LOWERN?
The “E” stands for Elevation, or altitude. The higher you are, the colder and thinner the air gets.
What does the “R” stand for in the term LOWERN?
The “R” stand for Relief, or presence of physical features. A physical feature would be a mountain, since this can alter the temperatures in the surrounding areas.
What does the “N” stand for in the term LOWERN?
The “N” stands for Nearness to large bodies of water. Nearness to large bodies of water can affect the areas temperature.

Equal to, or greater than 25.
What is the temperature range for Maritime Times?
Less than 25.

Less than 1000mm.

Equal to, or greater than 1000mm.

Mostly in summer, April - September.

Mostly in winter, October - March
