large body of air that has similiar properties to the area where the mass was formed.
what are air masses resposible for?
they are responsible for all weather.
what is the boundry between to air masses.
it is a front.
cold front
mass of warm air slowly goes over a mass of cold air. results in hours of rain.
occluded front
two cold air masses force a warm air mass up and trap it creating rain..
stationary front
a warm front and cold come together and neither one advances
thunderstorms
heavy rain down pours that have lighting and thunder

violently rotating mass of air. can be result of thunderstorm

a strech of the U.S. that produces numerous tornados each year

swirling low pressure system that forms over warm ocean. winds 119km/hr must be present to be called a hurricane
drought
areas of land that do not recieve rain for long periods of time. can cause farmers to livestock to die, and forest fires from extreme dry conditions
blizzards
massive snow storms. must snow atleast 3 hours.
