Q

weather in the past

How does Dickens continue to use the weather to help get his message across?

A

When the first spirit leads Scrooge past to the past and his old school, the weather immediately becomes “clear and cold” rather than dark and foggy as in chapter 1

In the final chapter the weather becomes clear and bright which reflects the change in Scrooge, his joyful mood and the jovial atmosphere of the chapter (it’s Christmas, families are reunited). It gives the reader a sense that a happy ending is coming.
