Weather Flashcards
What is polar maritime
This air mass starts very cold and dry but during its long passage over the relatively warm waters of the North Atlantic its temperature rises rapidly and the air mass becomes wetter
What is tropical maritime
Tropical maritime is when the air is usually warm and moist because the air picks up moisture from the sea.
What is artic maritime
Artic maritime is when the air brings in very cold and wet weather.
Why are places near the equator hotter
They are at a lower angle and pass through more atmosphere
Why do upland areas receive more rain
Upland receives more rain due to relief. This happens when moist air, containing a lot of water vapor comes from the Atlantic Ocean reaching the hills. The air rises over the hulls and cools down. When it does this the water vapour condenses into liquid.
