Weaknesses Flashcards
Tactics - Observations (3)
1) Shoves opponent and gets in his face after being fouled
2) Too many touches / skills -> goes alone -> loses ball when team has a 3v2 attacking overload
3) A pointless 35 yard long shot -> team was on the counter attack and had multiple passing options
Tactics - Overall success of performance (3)
1) Potentially a red card offence -> increased risk of putting team under more pressure if they went down to 10 men
2) Waste of a good attacking chance
3) Poor decision making
Tactics - Theory (3)
1) Aggression -> aggressive cue hypothesis -> the foul was the cue for him to show aggression
2) Inverted U theory -> arousal peaked when his goal went in -> drop in arousal meant loss of composure and concentration
3) Extrinsically motivated by the praise he would’ve received if the goal went in
Skills - Observations (2)
1) Team is on counter attack and he slows it down by doing unnecessary skills -> ends up being tackled
2) Could be classes as a weakness but mainly because I didn’t see enough of these in his game -> if they were used more it would take his game up another level
Dribbling - Lack of range of turns e.g. Maradona, Cruyff
Shooting - Lack of swerve -> would make it harder for GK to save
Non dominant foot shooting - Reluctant to volley on this foot
Heading - Both attacking and defending -> lost a few aerial duels and sometimes didn’t even challenge
Skills - Success on performance (2)
1) Loss of possession, waste of an attacking opportunity -> puts team under pressure
2) Limits skill set that could be used in a game
Skills - Theory (1)
1) Potential of social inhibition -> large crowd and live stream -> failure to perform skills that would be classed as ‘easy’ in training
Fitness - Observations (3)
1) Opposition GK parries the ball into a dangerous area. Slow reaction time / lack of acceleration means the defender gets there first
2) Slight lack of pace meant the defender tacks back and tackles him
3) Coordination, reaction time, speed, power
Fitness - Success on performance (3)
1) Could have had a high chance of scoring -> defender gets there first and clears
2) Possession overturned, puts team under increased pressure
3) Slight limitations in overall performance
Fitness - Theory (2)
1) Wasn’t in the zone of optimal functioning -> nutritional aids e.g. caffeine could help improve reaction time
2) Low % of fast glycolytic muscle fibres, low speed of contraction, low force of contraction, low levels of explosive strength
