Weaknesses Flashcards
Mauling perfect model
Prep: join at the back with a low body position and a neutral head and spine.
Execution: drive with leg drive while remaining bound to the player Infront of you.
Recovery: Awareness of when to leave maul and realign defensively.
Mauling effect on performance
caused line out drive to be ineffective and not make ground. Also was unable to identify when to hold a player up to create a maul.
Mauling application to theory
Could be due to over arousal as the game could have been a derby game or in a tournament. + more detail from book
Hand off perfect model
Prep: move ball to opposite arm from tackler
Execution: Use a locked straight arm to keep tackler at arms length.
Recovery: regather ball in two hands.
Hand off effect on performance
Poor technique in execution phase as The arm was not fully extended. Also opportunities to hand off missed by performer.
Hand off application to theory
Optimum arousal levels can reduce reaction times. Too high arousal could have lead to somatic and cognitive anxiety which lead to the player not being able to hand off effectively.
Spin passing in both directions perfect model
Prep: one hand over the top of the back of the ball and the other towards the front.
Execution: Brice with the back hand while wrapping hand over the ball to create spin. Use front hand to guide the ball.
Recovery: follow through with hands and then return them to a neutral position.
Spin passing effect on performance
This slowed attacking play as the ball was not distributed effectively
Spin passing application to theory
Social inhibition due to the phase of learning, associative may experience over arousal
Guard positioning effect on performance
Lack of awareness around breakdowns in defence allowed the 9 to have more space undefended
Guard positioning application to theory
Team cohesion would have been poor due to the individual attraction of how each player views the team being low, reducing work rate
Dummy line effect on performance
Timing was poor which made the attack predictable
Dummy line application to theory
Increased acceleration / deceleration. Acceleration = final velocity - initial velocity / time. Newtons 1st law of acceleration
Kick chase effect on performance
Poor chase caused opposition to gather the ball uncontested
Kick chase application to theory
Motivation, no inner drive to achieve goal could be due to external factors such as evaluation apprehension
