Strengths Flashcards
Tackling perfect model
Prep: low body position, head up.
Execution: Head to opposite side of tackling shoulder, leg drive.
Recovery: roll out of the breakdown area.
Tackling effect on performance
Stopped opposition from making like breaks and slowed down speed of ball.
Tackling application to theory
Aggression in nature of the sport but the acts were assertive as they were within the rules of the game and the outcome of an effective tackle could lead to the feeling of catharsis.
Rucking perfect model
Prep: low body position to allow for the correct entry angle to be achieved.
Execution: neutral head position, clamping onto player on the floor.
Recovery: being aware of when the ruck is over.
Rucking effect on performance
Able to turn over possession and win penalties as well as slowing down opposition ball.
Rucking application to theory
Low COM, inside the points of contact and increased points of contact all increase stability. There was also the use of stretch reflex.
Carrying ball into contact perfect model
Prep: ball positioned in opposite arm to tackler
Execution: Entering contact low and not upright.
Recovery: correct call presentation, explain presentation.
Carrying ball into contact effect on performance
Made ground in attack and gave team a platform to attack from.
Carrying ball into contact application to theory
Performer may have a large genetic composition of fast glycolytic muscle fibres. High phosphocreatine content means more explosive. Open skill due to external factors influencing it.
Choice of tackle effect on performance
side on tackle showed good awareness of how to best stop the opposition while they were side on. Reduced the amount of ground that the opposition could make.
choice of tackle application to theory
High self efficacy, ZOF, peak flow + more detail form textbook.
Breakdown commitment effect on performance
Allowed the performer to control the tempo of the game. slow the ball down in defence to allow defence to realign. speed up ball in attack to continue with momentum.
Breakdown commitment application to theory
Can be identified that the performer is most likely in the associative phase of learning due to them making the correct decisions. They could progress to the autonomous phase if they were to use NGB websites to get higher level coaching points as well as attending academy open days.
Defensive line effect on performance
Able to dictate game by choosing how to work in a defensive line. Blitz defence to apply pressure and force errors or slowly pressing as fast as the slowest player to ensure no gaps in the line are created.
Defensive line application to theory
Social facilitation, crowd size and closeness can impact the arousal levels of the performers.
