I Gutteral Rules
A
- Chatef: Gutturals prefer a chatef vowel instead of a sheva (esp. vocal sheva).
- Patach: Gutturals prefer a patach as a vowel under and preceding them.
- Lengthen > Dagesh: Gutturals (and ר) cannot receive a dagesh. Often the preceding vowel lengthens to compensate.
