What is the doppler effect?
A
When the frequency of an object travelling towards an observer is higher than that of the frequency travelling past it.

What is the reasoning behind the doppler effect?
A
The wave crests are compressed in the direction the source is moving, therefore increasing the frequency. The waves crests are stretched out behind the direction of travel of the source, therefore decreasing the frequency.
