  1. set oscilloscope so detected waves at each miscrophone are shown as seperate waves
  2. put both microphones next to the speaker , slwoly move one away until 2 waves are aligned on display but are one wavelentgh apart
  3. meaure distance between microphone for wavelength
  4. use formula wavespeed= wavelength x fequency
  5. frequency found on signal generator

what is the practical to meausre speed of water ripples?

A
  1. have a shallow tray of water and place a vibrating bar inside
  2. bar is connected to power pack and waves are created on surface of water
  3. above the dank add a lamp and dim it and below add a white peice of paper
  4. light will shine through water producing a image of the waves
  5. place a ruler next to the waves and use mobile phone to take a picture and freeze it
  6. meaure distcnace betweeen 1 to 10 waves and then divide by 10 = wavelength
  7. frequency= place time next to peice of paper then cound number of waves in 10 seconds and divide by 10
  8. use formula
