Nixon wanted to win the 1972 elections he needed dirt on Democrats in June 19 72 five members of the CRP entered Watergate Hotel in Washington DC. they were discovered, trying to find incriminating evidence. The public were outraged.

A
Journalist investigated. It emerged Nixon had been secretly recording conversations in the White House, but he refused to handover tapes. Supreme Court forced him to but blank spaces in tapes Nixon was threatened with impeachment. He resigned in 1974.
