Water On Earth Flashcards
Cirrcus
Curl of hair thin wispy and white
Vertical clouds
Form vertically sometimes called thunderheads or cumuloninuos
Cumulus clouds
Heap bottoms look dark bc little sunlight get through puff cotton balls smalls
Stratus
Layer layered and cover the whole sky look dark
Fog
Stratus clouds at ground level
Transpiritation
Transpiration is the process by which moisture is carried through plants from roots to small pores on the underside of leaves, where it changes to vapor and is released to the atmosphere
Frost
a deposit of small white ice crystals formed on the ground or other surfaces when the temperature falls below freezing.
Sublimation
When anything solid turns into a gas without first becoming liquid, that’s sublimation.
Accumlimation
a mass or quantity of something that has gradually gathered or been acquired.
Runoff
the draining away of water (or substances carried in it) from the surface of an area
Precipitation
rain, snow, sleet, or hail that falls to the ground.
Condensation
water that collects as droplets on a cold surface when humid air is in contact with it.
Evaporation
the process of turning from liquid into vapor.
Water cycle
the cycle of processes by which water circulates between the earth’s oceans, atmosphere, and land, involving precipitation as rain and snow, drainage in streams and rivers, and return to the atmosphere by evaporation and transpiration.
Rain
moisture condensed from the atmosphere that falls visibly in separate drops.
