Water On Earth Flashcards
Water cycle
The constant moving of water around the earth
Evaporation
Is the process where water gradually changes from liquid to a gas
Condensation
The water vapor turns to liquid
Precipitation
Water falls from cloud as rain, snow, sleet, and hail
Runoff
Is water moving down hill
Accumulation
Water collecting at the lowest point
Sublimation
Ice changing into water vapor without first melting
Frost
When water vapor freezes without becoming a liquid
Transpiration
Is when water from plant leaves evaporate
Cirrus clouds
High level clouds that are a fair weather type of cloud
Cumulus clouds
It is a low cloud altitude and brings fair weather
Stratus clouds
Brings a light mist and no precipitation it is the lowest cloud some times comes as fog.
Vertical/cumulonimbus clouds
Thunderstorms mostly occurs they are mid-level cloud.
Fog
Misty and no sunshine the lowest cloud also called stratus clouds
Rain
If temperature is over 32 f is the air it passes threw
Freezing rain
If temperature is over 32 f but if hits object bellow turns to ice
Sleet
If temperature above 32 f then bellow 32 f closer to ground
Hail
When wind clumps together ice crystals to make hail stones then if temperature is bellow 32 f near ground and above near the clouds
Snow
If all of the temperature is below 32 f
