Water Cycle and Groundwater study Guide Flashcards
What is Transpiration?
The process in which the water on a plant gets evaporated.
What is Condensation?
The process in which water vapor turns into liquid.
What is Run-Off?
Water that runs down mountains and hills into Lakes rivers etc.
What is Precipitation?
The process where the condensation builds up so much that it rains, hails, etc.
What is Evaporation?
The process in which the sun heats up water and it becomes water vapor.
How does the water form on a cup that has ice in it?
The glass becomes colder and it starts to sweat because of condensation.
Did the water vapor come from outside or inside of the glass in the condensation lab?
Outside
What is permeable?
A material that water can move through.
What is impermeable?
A material that water cannot move through.
What is Groundwater?
Water that exists underground.
What is Surface Water?
Wahet that can be found on earth’s surfaces.
What is Water Table?
The saturation zoon of water (the top).
What is Pore Space?
The space between the rocks or soil.
What material has the highest permeability?
Gravel
What material has the lowest porosity?
Sand
