Review for Cell Quiz
What is the Cytoplasm?
A jelly-like substance that holds and protects the cell’s organelles.
What is the Cell Membrane?
The outer layer of an animal cell, and it controls movement in and out of the cell.
What is the Nucleus?
The “brain” of the cell. It controls the cell’s activities.
What is the Mitochondria?
Structures that are known as the powerhouse of the cell because they release energy.
What is the Endoplasmic Reticulum? (ER)
Pathways that move substances within the cell.
What is the Ribosomes?
The organelles that build or synthesize proteins for the cell.
What is the Vacuole?
A large sac that holds food, water, and waste.
What is the Lysosome?
The organelles that use enzymes to digest or break down biomolecules.
What is the Chloroplast?
A green structure is found only in plant cells and uses energy from the sun to make food.
What is the Cell Wall?
The outer layer of a plant cell. It supports the cell.
What is the Golgi Body?
A structure that packages and moves proteins through the cell.
What parts can be found in only plant cells?
Plant cells have a cell wall, and chloroplasts. They also have a central vacuole.
What parts can be found in only animal cells?
Animal cells have lysosomes and small vacuoles.
What are examples of prokaryotic cells?
Bacteria and Archaea.
Be able to draw a plant cell and label the following parts: Cell Wall, Cell Membrane, Cytoplasm, Central Vacuole, and Nucleus
