Water that soaks into the ground

What is the zone of aeration?
Unsaturated soil through which water will seep until it hits impermeable rock
What is the zone of saturation?
Area where water has filled the spaces between the soil
What is the water table?
Top of the zone of saturation
What is the aquifer?
Area of stored groundwater- water is purified as it passes through the soil layers
What is surface water?
Water not soaked into the ground that flows downhill and forms streams and rivers
What is a drainage basin/ watershed?
Area that is drained by a river and all the streams that empty into it
What is a divide?
The high ground that is between two drainage basins
