verrucae?
caused by HPV
how are verrucae spread?
benign in healthy kids and spread via P2P or fomites
types of verrucae
vulgaris, verruca plana, verrucat plantaris, conlyloma acuminata
condyloma acuminatat
most common STD, HPV 6 or 11 and 16/18
condyloma acuminatata prevention
gardasil protects against all 4 strains, cervarix protects against HPV 16, 18
Condlyoma acuminatat CF
o Lobulated surface, cauliflower-like, usually gray or pink (HIGH risk lesions are often hyperpigmented
periungular
warts on nail matrix can be hard to treat
plantaris
plantar wart!! prefers pressure points.
o Verrucous surface, thrombosed capillaries, often multiple, coalescent (“mosaic warts”)
o Deeper than other warts
verruca plana
the flat wart
ag 5-20 yrs
verruca plana
o Prefers face, dorsal hands, wrists, knees

o Flat-topped surface, pink to brown, usually multiple, frequently in linear formation
wart treatment
depends on the type and location of wart.
cantharidin, podophyllin, retinoids, salicyclic acid, 5- FU, imiqumod, cietidine, squaric acid
canthardin MOA/ADR
beetle juics!!! blistering, risk of scarring, not for face
wart complications
pain, tenderness, limiations on mobility, cosmesis, malignant degenrations (HPV 16, 18)
