civiliians were effected more then ever. it was the first total war and britian as known as the home front. the success of the war depended on mobilisation of man power, weapons, ammunition and food.

conscription or encouraged to work in munitions protection and other vital war industries
what happened to all the conscripts recuited in WW1?
6 million fought, 700,000 died and injuries were also high
