Analyse the language in remains

Language

A

colloquial language “on another occasion” “possibly armed, possibly not”“sort of inside out”
- suggests that the occassions are common
- they are desentisied to the horror of conflict
- “tosses” and “carted off” indicates the soldiers lack of respect

Vague language
-“this looter”
- dehumanising the person
- could be the soldier trying to belittle him in order to not feel the guilt of him and other people

sensory language
- “i see” is in present tense which suggests he is reliving the moment (link to PTSD). His suffering is onoing

violent imagery
“and he bursts again”
- verb highlighting how the scene keeps erupting in his mind , invading his mind

“his bloody life in my bloody hands”
-repetition of bloody emphasises his guilt, regret and frushtration
imagery of blood
“bloody” can be interpreted as a swear word that marks his anger and regret
