Context
The poem relates to a picture of a girl in a napalm attack where chemicals were dropped on people. This led to many people protesting and as a result the vietnam war was stopped.

Duffy writes the poem with a strict rule of 6 lines per stanza and ABBCDD rhyme schemes.

Using eyeballs instead of eyes shows that the person is crying after seeing the photos. Maybe it reflects that they don’t feel it emotionally but they are showing others this physical response
The use of alliteration signifies the reader’s frivolous nature.
