Metaphor- Emphasises endlessness of the misery he has witnessed. The pictures create their own suffering.

Dual meaning- The liquid used to develop photos, yet also the hope that these photos hold the solution to stopping these problems

Metaphor- Depicts the photo forming but also suggests the man has died.

Vivid description of the sight- Emphasises the impact this had on the photographer. Just as stains won’t disappear, this image won’t disappear from the photographer’s mind.
