Schlieffen Plan
Developed by a German general. Plan was to attack France, wiping out western resistance so that Germany and Austria-Hungary could focus their attention on Russia - Speed was vital to the plan!

France was able to drive the Germans back, leaving the German plan in ruins.

Germany’s strike against France that turned into a long bloody stalemate.
