Flex ion of a joint decreases the joint angle from the body in anatomical position. When the elbow is bent the forearm is flexed which means the flexor is contracted. Extinction of the joint is returned to the anatomical position. Extensor is contracted. Triceps brachii is used to straight the arm. Biceps brachii is used to bend the elbow.
