What is the promotion mix?
A specific blend of promotional tools that a company uses to communicate consumer value
What is advertising?
Any form of paid non-personal presentation and promotion of ideas. Cheap but impersonal
What is personal selling?
Personal interaction by firms sales force.

Short-term incentives

Obtaining favourable publicity

What is direct marketing?
Engaging directly with target market

What are the two basic promotion mix strategies?
Push strategy, pull strategy
What is a push strategy?
Push the product to resellers who then push it to consumers. (Personal selling)
Producers > Resellers > Consumers
What is a pull strategy?
Promotion to general customers getting the consumer to pull out the strategy. Generate demand
Consumers > Resellers > Producer
What are the major advertising decisions?
