A

Another way the white man tried to stop black people from achieving full civil rights was the lack of Political influence. This was when white men tried to get around the 14th Amendment which allowed black men to vote.

The white men passed laws for voting such as the residency qualification and the grandfather clause. The grandfather clause meant if your grandfather could vote when he was 18 neither could you.

the residency qualification meant Black men had to prove they lived in the same place for some time since they had to move around for work, many men couldn’t vote.

Analysis

A

This was important because in 1900, 180 black men were registered to vote in Alabama but due to these new laws, only 3000 black men could vote by 1915. Almost 3 % of black men could vote. This caused black men to lose another one of their civil rights since these votes also affected white people. They were now even more segregated than before.
