This was important because it allowed every southern state to segregate black people without worrying about the law, which meant black people had some of their civil rights removed overnight as now they could only get the knockoff on everything such as textbooks, Limiting their education and their life in the south.

However, it could be argued that very little changed as most southern states were already segregating black people under the Jim Crow laws that were in place. The only change was now it was Legal to do it. White people did not need to fear getting in trouble for doing it.
